The Dreamer and the Sleeper is a pop-rock band based out of Monterey, California, formed in November 2005. They are an independent band made up of two principal band members: Nick Pappageorgas and Easton Broome. Bassist, Ray Padilla joined the band in 2009 and Guitarist/Keyboardist Tim Neece joined in 2010. The Dreamer and the Sleeper has independently recorded and released two full length albums, two five song EPs as well as a number of tracks via the internet. They self release all material on their own label: Icarus Kids Recordings.

The members of The Dreamer and the Sleeper are life-long friends, growing up together in Monterey, California. They played in a few bands together growing up but The Dreamer and the Sleeper was officially formed by Nick and Easton in late 2005. At the time the two were both mid-way through their final year of college with Nick attending USC in Los Angeles and Easton attending UC Berkeley. The two had been casually collaborating on songs by sending them back and forth on the internet for some time. When they decided that they wanted to try and record an album, the name The Dreamer and the Sleeper was chosen.

A demo version of the song “Leaving the Hospital; I’m Going Home” was uploaded to the bands new myspace page on April 23, 2006. The band continued to record and release a number of demos throughout 2006, most of which were recorded using the bands original method of sending tracks back and forth over the internet. All of these demo’s would be released on either an album or an EP except one song entitled Charmer.

In December of 2006 The Dreamer and the Sleeper decided that they would release an EP prior to the release of their full-length album, which had now been titled Fireworks. The EP was described by the band as being an collection of bonus tracks from the Fireworks recording sessions. The Oh, Is for Overture EP was released digitally on March 9, 2007 and in hard copy form in April 2007. Each EP was hand packaged and numbered: one out of fifty copies printed.

The Dreamer and the Sleeper released their debut, independent full-length album Fireworks in digital format only on July 7th, 2007. The band released the album for free to all who wished to download the album until November 2007 when the album was released in hard copy format and on iTunes.

In late November of 2007 the band released another limited edition EP. The Holiday EP was comprised of four original songs inspired by the holiday & winter seasons and a cover of Wham’s Last Christmas.

During the Fall of 2008 The Dreamer and the Sleeper began working on their second full-length album. Very early on in the recording process this album was named Autumn in the Evening after the time of year in which the majority of the album was written. Autumn in the Evening differed greatly from Fireworks in that Nick and Easton recorded the majority of the tracks together in their home studios. Autumn in the Evening was mixed and mastered by Nick in April and May of 2009 and released on June 2nd, 2009.

After the release of Autumn in the Evening the band took a short break before circumstance brought both Nick and Easton back to their hometown of Monterey. It was the first time the two had lived within 250 miles of one another since The Dreamer and the Sleeper formed in 2005. Nick and Easton's long time friend Ray Padilla had also recently moved back to Monterey making it able for him to join the band playing bass. For the first time in nearly 4 years The Dreamer and the Sleeper was able to work on playing live shows. It was much like starting from the beginning for the band as songs old and new were relearned and retooled for live performances. They spent the majority of 2010 playing local live shows and slowly writing material for a new album.

In the year 2011 The Dreamer and the Sleeper plan to return to what they feel they do best: writing and recording a new album as well as continuing to play local live shows. The band has set up a section of this website to allow fans to follow along with the recording process of their new album. Check out the 2011 Sessions page here.
